Job Title:WORKSHOP ELECTRO MECHANICAL ENGINEER (MOTORS, PUMPS, DRIVES, AND INDUSTRIAL EQUIPMENT)
Department: Engineering Workshop – Repair, Rewinding, Refurbishment, and Automation
Reporting to: Workshop Manager / Technical Director
Location: W Coimbatore
Employment Type: Full-Time
1.Position Overview;
The Workshop Electromechanical Engineer will be responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, rewinding, refurbishment, programming,
testing, and commissioning of motors, pumps, air compressors, drives, control panels, and industrial machinery.
The role ensures all equipment repaired or refurbished meets technical, safety, and performance standards.
The engineer will serve as the technical authority within the workshop, supervise technicians, perform advanced diagnostics,
support automation systems, and ensure high-quality engineering service delivery to industrial, mining, agricultural, and commercial clients.
2. Core Responsibilities;
Motor and Pump Repair and Rewinding (AC- DC)
•Inspect and diagnose electrical and mechanical faults in motors and pumps.
•Determine correct rewinding specifications including wire gauge, turns, and insulation class.
•Supervise motor rewinding procedures including coil removal, slot insulation, rewinding, varnishing, and baking.
•Repair and refurbish motors and pump assemblies.
•Inspect bearings, shafts, seals, impellers, and mechanical components.
Drives and Automation Systems;
•Diagnose, repair, and commission Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
•Program drive parameters including motor settings, protection settings, and operational controls.
•Troubleshoot faults in industrial drives including but not limited toNidec, ABB, Siemens, Schneider, Danfoss, Delta, and Rockwell systems.
•Integrate drives with motors, pumps, and industrial machinery.
Control Panel Repair and Electrical Systems;
•Inspect, repair, and commission electrical control panels.
•Interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
•Replace faulty components including contactors, relays, breakers, and overloads.
•Perform panel wiring, modifications, and system testing.
Air Compressor Service and Repair;
•Diagnose and repair industrial air compressors. (Elgi)
•Inspect electrical and mechanical components of compressors.
•Test compressor systems and verify operational performance.
Testing and Commissioning;
•Conduct insulation resistance testing, continuity testing, and operational testing.
•Perform machinery testing including current, voltage, temperature, and vibration monitoring.
•Approve repaired equipment for release and commissioning.
•Support installation and commissioning at customer sites when required.
Refurbishment and Equipment Rebuilding;
•Refurbish motors, pumps, and industrial equipment to restore performance.
•Replace worn components and restore equipment functionality.
Field Service and Technical Support;
•Provide on-site troubleshooting and repair support.
•Assist with installation, commissioning, and system integration.
Technical Supervision and Workshop Management;
•Supervise workshop technicians and ensure adherence to engineering standards.
•Train technicians and improve workshop technical capability.
•Ensure workshop safety and compliance with engineering best practices.
Documentation and Reporting;
•Prepare inspection reports, test reports, and service records.
•Maintain technical documentation and repair history.
3. Technical Skills and Competencies;
•Strong knowledge of electric motor theory and rewinding principles.
•Knowledge of industrial automation and drive systems.
•Understanding of electrical control panels and industrial electrical systems.
•Mechanical knowledge of pumps, compressors, and rotating equipment.
•Ability to diagnose electrical and mechanical faults.
•Ability to supervise technical teams.
4. Qualifications and Experience;
•Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electromechanical Engineering.
•Minimum 3–7 years of workshop or industrial repair experience.
•Experience with industrial motors, drives, pumps, compressors, and automation systems preferred.
